MacUpdate Comments

September 17th, 2009

Today Tracktime is available as part of a MacUpdate Promo. The promo encourages people to leave their thoughts and comments on the product (even if they haven’t tried it)

This section of one comment made me smile

“good luck mamooba, next time try to pick a company name that doesn’t sound like a circus animal farting and you’ll go farther business.”

TrackTime 1.4 Released.

September 16th, 2009

It was great to get TrackTime version 1.4 released today.
Heres the list of changes and updates.

TrackTime 1.4 is a free upgrade for all users

New Features and Changes in 1.4

  • You can now export project data to a CSV file for processing in other applications
  • Some under the hood performance updates so TrackTime takes up less memory and system resources
  • The date range of the currently displayed data is now clearly displayed
  • TrackTime now runs as a standard OS X application with menus and shortcuts

Fixes in 1.4

  • Project Icons now the same size as other icons
  • A range of small behind the scenes fixes you might never see but don’t want to happen

The biggest thing you will notice straight away is that TrackTime now runs as a standard OS X application rather than just as a statusbar application. I spent a long time considering this before implementing it but now after running it for a while it just feels more natural to cmd-tab to the application and use normal menus to drive TrackTime. You can still use the statusbar to start and stop activities on your own projects so you don’t have to switch to TrackTime to continue your normal work flow.

The ability to export project data is something that TrackTime has needed for a long time and its great that in version 1.4 at last you can do it. You can choose to export all data or just for a range of dates. Data is exported in a standard CSV format so you can import it and use it in hundreds of other applications.

TrackTime 1.4 has seen many behind the scenes changes that will make it possible to add many more features going forward. Work has started on version 1.5 and a list a features is taking shape for version 1.6.

Before applying any update ensure you back up your TrackTime Data File.

The TrackTime data file can be found under your user folder in
Library/Application Support/TrackTime/TrackTime120.ttd

Upgrading to TrackTime 1.4 will change the format of you TrackTime Data File. If you want the option of returning to your old version of TrackTime please ensure you keep you current data file safe

TrackTime Returns To Mamooba

August 17th, 2009

I am really excited to announce that TrackTime has returned to Mamooba.

TrackTime was sold to Apocalypse Software in 2008 to be integrated into the Apocalypse product range. Unfortunately this has not progressed quite as hoped and so I have brought TrackTime back into the Mamooba stable.

I have loads of plans for TrackTime so please stick with me and enjoy the ride.
